Winter Trout Fishing

by mike whiteford on 12/14/11

The weather has not stopped the browns from moving to the shoals. All the rain has help to be able to follow them up the river. The brown bite is on the females that I have been catching still have hard egg sacks. This is good news that means they will stay on the shoals till they get ready to spawn.

November That Means Browns Are On The Move

by mike whiteford on 11/05/11

The water is perfect and the browns are starting to move up river. The spawn should kick off in a week or so. We have been picking up some nice fish that have started staging at the foot of the bigger shoals. The new rainbow pic on the web site was 17lb and 31" long. It was the biggest rainbow caught in the Little Red in many years.

Fall Is Here !!!

by mike whiteford on 10/06/11

Summer has come and gone now is the time to get the big browns on there way to the spawn. This month will be the best time fish the bottom of all the shoals looking for the browns on the move. Big stick and live bait patterns will produces nice browns. The browns will be feeding heavy the first two hours after day light.

Moss Head Trout Fishing

by mike whiteford on 08/29/11

The moss is perfect for late morning and early afternoon fishing. You will want to fish the down river side of the moss beds with live bait or small floating stick baits and work them with a over the very end of the bed. This has me putting 50 plus rainbows to the boat on a half day morning guide trip. Purple power bait tip with wax worms and 24" leader is also producing good number right now.

Dog Days Of Summer

by mike whiteford on 08/07/11

The heat has slowed the afternoon bite down. The morning bite is still going strong from 7:30 am till 11:00 am. The rainbow bite is lite you have to be ready for it and watch that rod tip and you will put your limit in the boat.

Wax worms and rainbow power bait are the way to go. The browns are hitting orange pinch floats and wax worms. We had three browns this week in the slot and the longest one was 23"
